The Karnak temple complex was built across a 247-acre area between the years 2000 BC and 30 AD, making it by far the largest open-air museum in the world. The magnificent Colossi of Memnon of Pharaoh Amenhotep III were created in Cairo in 1350 BC and then transported 700 meters to Luxor where they were placed in the damaged mortuary temple of Amenhotep II.
